Aahh college. Classes and sports and roommates and… cleaning up after yourself. Here are some helpful tips to ensure a clean and hygienic semester.
Wipes are the ultimate college cleaning weapon! They can pick up crumbs, take care of a sticky spill, remove germs and bacteria, and even banish kitchen grease. Clorox wipes in particular claim to kill 99.9% of germs (which can live on surfaces for up to 48 hours) including Staph, E. coli, Salmonella, and Strep. They really are the all-in-one cleaning solution for student apartments.
Pop-Up Laundry Hamper
Everyone needs a laundry hamper of some sort, and there are tons of styles to choose from. Pop-up hampers are a great choice for college students. Why? Well first of all, as long as you don’t totally over stuff it, it can be picked up by its handles and be easily toted to the laundry (btw: all V.F. Properties have washers and dryers). Second, because it’s mesh-sided, dirty clothes and towels that are slightly damp will be fine for a day or two, as the hampers promote air flow. Third, the collapsible design means it will be easy to put away and store when it’s not in use. It’s also not a bad idea to get a set of mesh washing bags, which will help to keep small items like socks from getting lost.
Speaking of dirty clothes, you’re going to need detergent! Laundry Pods are definitely useful when you’re dependent on a shared laundry room. It’s so much easier to grab a single laundry pod, or a handful when you’re doing more than one load of laundry. So much easier than carrying a heavy bottle of liquid detergent along with your dirty clothes. There are multiple brands to choose from: Tide, Gain, All, and Arm & Hammer all make some variant of a laundry pod.
Tablets, laptops, and smartphones are a must on college campuses. With so much use these items continuously collect dust, dirt, and bacteria. To clean the screens, use specialty screen wipes that remove fingerprint grease, germs, and lingering dust. Also, a can of compressed air is the best way to blow lint and debris out of keyboard crevices and smartphone ports.
Having a long-handled sweeper that can double as a mop is ideal for apartment living. Saving space is always key, and these mops are light, affordable and easy to store. In addition, the dry sweeper pads can also be used as dusting cloths for cleaning shelves, tables, lamps, and other hard surfaces.
