Moving into a new place is exciting and stressful. While there are many things to consider and plan for, V.F. Properties makes the whole process easy by offering fully furnished apartments, HDMI Televisions, 24/7 property management, valet waste service and much more.
Besides moving boxes into your new apartment, here is a helpful list of other things tenants should consider as the school year starts.
Stock Up on School and Office Supplies
School and office supplies can be purchased at local department stores, pharmacies (like CVS or Walgreens), and even grocery stores. To save some cash, take a look at Dollar Tree or Family Dollar – they have many stores throughout Worcester. If you want a wider selection or specific school supplies, you can head over to Staples in Lincoln Square. It is located a few miles from WPI and Clark, but located right on WRTA bus routes 16 and 31.
Affordable Home Goods
For some great deals on home goods like towels, sheets, pillows, small appliances, and dishes, check out Target in Lincoln Square (use their Cartwheel app for rotating savings of up to 50% on differing items). Other great places to score good deals include Walmart on Tobias Boland Way, Marshalls in Webster Square, or Big Lots and TJ Maxx, both located in the Greendale Mall. Again, these are located a few miles from WPI and Clark, but only about 10 minutes away via car or accessible from multiple WRTA bus routes.
Worcester’s trash pickup is offered once a week on a specific day depending on which area of the city you live in. Our Clark area properties located on Downing St., Florence St., and Maywood St. have trash pickup on Wednesday. For our Goulding St. properties, trash pickup is on Tuesday. For more information, click here. As mentioned, we offer valet waste service for our apartments. Wondering how it works?
You put your trash in a yellow City of Worcester trash bag and each week you place the bags in the designated barrels outside your building (at side or back). In addition, recycle bins are located in each apartment and should be placed in the front foyer the night before trash day. On trash days, our maintenance crew will bring them to the curb between 6-7 a.m. Please note, any trash brought to the curb in advance of the designated trash day can result in a penalty by the City of Worcester DPW.
Even though we take out the trash for you, keep in mind you will still need to buy official city of Worcester trash bags, which come in small and large sizes. The small bags cost $0.75/bag (sold in sleeves of 10) and the large ones cost $1.50/bag (sold in sleeves of 5). They are available all over the city, but in particular you can find them at grocery stores like Big Y (a 10 minute walk from the Clark area), Shaw’s and Price Chopper (a 5 minute walk from the WPI area).
