Located right on Main St. near Clark University, Acoustic Java is a small-batch coffee roaster committed to locally-grown organic food and sustainable specialty coffee & tea drinks. A hip little coffee shop, they also sell breakfast sandwiches, salads, wraps and more. Their website features a convenient online ordering system. Located in the revitalized Canal District at the corner of Green and Water Street, this is a great location to meet up with friends to relax and enjoy a nice coffee and a bite to eat. They offer fresh baked breads, sandwiches, soups, pizza, and a great selection of java beverages. In addition, they host live music on Wednesday evenings, while featuring plenty of seating and free parking. While you’re there, check out the Crompton Collective store on the 1st floor of the building – it offers a cool collection of vintage, antique, and handmade gifts and products.

The newest coffee shop in the city, Brew on the Grid offers small batch handcrafted coffee and is one of the only specialty Seraphim coffee brewers in Massachusetts! Located right across from City Hall common, they also sell pastries and sandwiches. Word is they will soon be expanding to offer craft beers and local brews. The staff are friendly, helpful and will gladly help guide you through all of their specialty coffee options.

Right on Highland St. (a quick walk from WPI) sits the Bean Counter Coffee Bar. A local favorite, they offer gourmet coffee, espresso, lattes and cappuccino. All of their coffee is micro-roasted and fresh ground. They specialize in crafting smooth espresso shots and also sell a great selection of sweets and award-winning cakes.

Located in the heart of Shrewsbury St., In House Coffee offers plenty of free parking and is right near many of Shrewsbury Street’s fantastic restaurants. They have great regular and flavored coffees and sell fresh baked muffins, bagels, croissants and desserts. In addition, they offer a variety of specialty drinks like Turkish coffee, chai tea and chai tea lattés. They also have a small outdoor seating area.
